JoyceDeWitt first appeared on stage when she was 13. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree at Ball State University. Following that, while performing in summer show when she met with the director, she convinced her to join UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program,where she received the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship in addition to the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt stated that she had never encountered Abe Vigoda during her time at UCLA. DeWitt is most well-known for her role in Three's company's run from 1977 until 1984 as Janet Wood. This was one of the roles she was offered after being selected for the second pilot. DeWitt also appeared as Janet in a 1979 episode of the spinoff series The Ropers. After Three's Company ended in 1984, DeWitt appeared in an episode of Finder of Lost Loves in 1984 after which she quit acting for a number of years. She made her return to the stage in June of 1991 when she appeared in a Noises Off production in Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. [1] Later, she appeared in the TV comedy Spring Fling! Pinky and the Brain aired a 1997 episode featuring a character based on her. It was voiced partially by another actress. She was featured in an episode of Cybill and also made an appearance on Living Single's penultimate episode. The 2000s work of her include TV shows like Hope Island, The Nick at Nite Holiday Special and Call of the Wild.
